What Will You Learn?

Taking the Herbalism for Kids Course, children aged 10+ (or younger with adult guidance) will learn all about herbs and their use in supporting the body. They’ll discover the chemicals within herbs, how to identify and make products from herbs, and which herbs to use to aid common ailments and support specific body systems.

Your child will discover what herbs are, their history, and what makes them work – learning about the chemicals inside them (called ‘active constituents’) and how to detect them. They’ll find out about the different types of products that may be found within a herbal dispensary, like dried herbs, tinctures, glycerites, ointments and syrups. They’ll also be encouraged to get out and about to search for common herbs, as they learn about the herbs that grow in each season and how to identify plants.

Your child will be provided with a good foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and the factors that underpin health issues so they understand why specific herbs are chosen for particular body systems.

They’ll learn how to use herbs for coughs and sneezes, tummy aches, immune system support, skin health, cuts and grazes, helping emotions, and getting a good night’s sleep.
