Introductions, Learning Outcomes and Statistics An introduction to the structure of the course and what you’ll learn. We also take you through health and safety statistics for Great Britain and the terminology that will be used throughout the modules.
Health and Safety Benefits We look at what the many benefits of health and safety are, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, enforcement, risk assessments and health and safety policies. We also explore employee and employer responsibilities and what to do if you have concerns.
Legal Framework of Workplace Health and Safety Here we look at the legalities of health and safety at work including legal framework, risk assessments, health and safety policies and enforcement. You’ll also delve into legislation, employee conduct and welfare issues.
Accident Prevention, Investigation and Reporting The topics we will cover in this section are accident prevention, accident investigation including first steps and causes, and accident reporting.
Communication and Environment We explore communication, committees and consultation, display information, provided information, and signs and environment. (fire equipment, warning prohibited etc).
Electricity This module focuses on electricity in terms of danger, potential hazards, precautions and reducing risks.
Fire and Additional Hazards and Controls We look at the dangers of fire, what steps to take in the event of a fire, the FSO and safety policies. You’ll also learn about first aid, control of substances hazardous to health, personal protective equipment, manual handling and display screen equipment.
